Description
Federico Garcia Lorca home
The Casa- Museo de Federico García Lorca which was the summer home of the García Lorca from 1926-1936 , shortly after the murder of Frederick in the early weeks of the Civil War .
The House- Museum of the Huerta de San Vicente was opened with the set of real furniture, paintings and wares that were in the house at the time of purchase by the city of Granada .
In 1995 , the only reliable document that existed on the layout of this furniture set was a series of photographs taken in the period from 1926 to 1936 , among which the series made in 1935 by writer Eduardo Blanco -Amor , plus family photos 1918 made from other places where García Lorca family lived and in which shows some of the furniture , artwork and objects that can be seen today in the Huerta de San Vicente . These photographs allow to precisely define the adjective " original " applied to the furniture that currently decorate and make space House Museum : in them we see the desktop of the poet, the gramophone and his foot , the grand piano , the couch , the rockers and Thonet chairs , playing Botticelli 's Spring , the art deco framed mirror , among other household minor. In addition to photographs , were useful memory testimonies of people who lived in the Huerta , singularly Isabel García Lorca and nephews Vicenta and Manuel Fernández- Montesinos.
The rest of the furniture and household goods ( dishes, ceramics, and household objects as the rack , the tablecloth , or peasants as cheese , etc.) and other documents and works of art that can be seen today in the House-Museum were or part of the furniture of the Garden in some of their times between 1926 and 1936 , or sometime belonged to the family Lorca, as evidenced by the demonstrations of oral memory by relatives cited .
The House Museum does not hide the inevitable fictional elements or evidence that what the visitor contemplates not exactly what its inhabitants lived . They emphasize the differences between different objects ( documented as originals , those belonging to the Garcia Lorca and vintage or temperature) and its exact relationship with the house in the period 1926-1936 . The set is simple and elegant, and tries to understand aspects of the life and work of Federico Garcia Lorca from impressionistic stroll through the spaces of domestic intimacy . The House Museum therefore pays inevitable tension between the scientific and tourism between memory and myth, and seeks to provide a better understanding of the life and work of Lorca at the end of the visit.
La Huerta de San Vicente in 2007-2008 hosted the exhibition of contemporary art " Everstill / Siempretodavía , curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist .
In the movie " Moving " , Pere Portabella , the house itself becomes the protagonist of this film as a tribute to Federico García Lorca.
